Synopsis
My wife has bought me a pub for Christmas. Or rather, she has allowed me to buy one for myself. Soon I will be able to drink at cost price and entertain customers and friends in my front room. What's more, I will actually be paid for enjoying myself instead of shelling out to visit other people's pubs..."

Reviews
I just want to let you know how much enjoyment I get from reading your books. They make me laugh out loud! The only other author who does this is Bill Bryson. So I would say you are up there with the big boys! Keep on writing!--J&D BritishJournal.

A hugely entertaining and original tale of blood, sweat and tears. I'm certain some of those characters are now in Penrith rather than Pompey; one may even have inspired a key player in 50 Shades..........
Thanks George!
Any of George East's books deserve to win, but I particularly liked this one!
Like all George's books full of colourful characters who come alive in the word picture of the narrative.
Great fun, thoroughly enjoyable.
Love all of George's books, they really make me laugh out loud. More books please :)
A great book describing the trials of and tribulations of a publican in down town Pompey (no, not that Pompey!)
I am now a people watcher. After reading this hilarious account of life Behind Bars for a landlord, I cannot visit the pub now without trying to spot all the characters. George is a very accomplished comic writer who tickles my funny-bone with ease.
