Reviews
"Brendan Gisby deserves the utmost respect for being able to tell this story with the power of pain and vividness of emotion, and yet all of that is controlled, constructed and managed with a level of reflective awareness that is little short of incredible." - Calley Phillips, Indie eBook Review
"A wonderful memoir and an encapsulation of a childhood and a society, I can’t speak too highly of what I’ve read here. I rate it among the best reading experiences I’ve had for some years." - Dennis Hamley, Indie eBook Review

GREAT WEE BOOK,CRYED,LAUGHED AND LAUGHED AGAIN
My review on Amazon makes it clear how much I enjoyed this excellent book.
A heartfelt tale of what must have been a traumatic time in the authors teenage years. I was amazed he could put into words - and very good words they are.
Great little book
Great book. If you haven't read this give it a whirl.
The strange thing about this book is it in many ways reminds me of my own father.
The Bookies Runner gets my vote everytime.
A great wee book with a great story. The Bookies Runner is a first class read.
I first read The Bookie's Runner on the Authonomy site for free and bought it as soon as I was aware of its publication. Racking my brains, I'm quite sure this is the only modern day literary work of art I have read more than once...more than twice. Never mind your big name authors who find a formula and stick to it, this man can WRITE, and deserves only the highest of accolades.
