Synopsis
René & Me tells the story of the author and his wife's attempts to live off the land and their wits at an old mill in an isolated corner of Normandy. On arrival, the innocents abroad fall for the wiles of René & Me Ribet, known locally as The Normandy Fox. ...
Author's Biography
George East has been wandering and wondering through France, it seems for ever, and writing about it for more than twenty years. His love affair started as a young boy on a cultural exchange and has lasted, in spite of some of his experiences in the country we love to love or hate.
Reviews
Writing with style, shed-loads of humour, and a wry slant on life, George East wears his heart on his sleeve. Thank goodness he's been able to share some of his life with us, and not just the good bits. --Central B.Journal
If you can laugh, and sometimes cry, you'll feel a great empathy for George's books. 'Rene and me' is my particular favourite, as the Fox of Cotentin has quietly been circling his lair in previous books, and now shows his true colours. --France Life
Rene & Me is a very 'true to Life' look at an ex-pats experiences in France. George paints (with his pen) pictures of his neighbours and friends with exuberance and humour. But this account of life in Normandy is also very poignant and moving. A real page turner that will set your emotions churning. --(FPNews)
