Author's Biography

Su Yen Hu is a professional designer from Taiwan where she won several national competitions. In England she obtained her Master’s degree in Historic Building Conservation. Roy Preece is tutor to International students at Oxford Brookes University and has taught many American summer schools at Rewley House in Oxford University.

Delightful story of Su Yen's initiation into the strange new world of Oxford and its unique culture so different from anything she has known. Beautifully written and a joy to read.

An uplifting, interesting and unusual book. The correspondence between Sue Yen, an exceptional student, and her Tutor, Roy, helps the reader interpret and appreciate some of the best known English poetry, while we follow Sue Yen on her journey to contentment.
A wonderful book. So inspiring. I felt privileged to read letters between two people from very different cultures expressing their thoughts and understandings so openly and all the while Su-Yen's painful past unfolds. A real treat!
