A
thumping debut from a barnstorming new talent. - Danny King, Author
I never imagined Newcastle could have such a dark underbelly, but the literary mind of Andy Rivers soon put me straight. Gangsters are running the Toon, with a dodgy cop and a bent judge at the heart of it all. The characters are fantastically written and Andy’s writing style is a new one for me. The novel is split up into multiple narrators. Rivers’ debut novel has a real homely touch, with lots of local charm and wit: it’s gritty - just how I like my fiction - and the ending will knock you straight off your seat. What a belter of a read! HJF 'The Crack'

True Northern Grit!
Canny read like. Romps along. Somehow reminds me of Rivelinho in Mexico '70
Great stuff! Loved it!
Top drawer quality!
Fast and furious, read this in two sittings, a real page turner with characters you know.
Was left so bereft after I finished it.
I was looking at the pages left, thinking, please, can I have an extension!

Great read. Couldn't put the the book down. Put me a day behind with my work
Maxwell's Silver Hammer is gritty urban fiction at its best. Strong believable characters, edgy slick writing and a plot that rattles along like a train. Well worth my vote.
Andy Rivers writes with clenched fists and open eyes. Pick it up if you're hard enough, put it down if you can. Matt Nesbitt, Author.
Best read i've had in a long time.
