Synopsis
The adventures of two rather unusual friends – Duck and Starfish. An unlikely friendship is formed when Duck can’t find her mum and Starfish decides to help her. Together they visit a number of different sea creatures – and some human ones as well – with no success until Duck and Starfish meet the human who is finally able to help them. He is looking out to sea – watching the weather – and is able to spot Duck’s mum. After this it is just a matter of time – and some courageous solo swimming – before the waterfowl are reunited.

Reviews
What a sweet book! Duck searches for his mother on the beach with Starfish’s help. They meet people and sea creatures, but no one seems able to tell them anything – until the Weatherman comes to the rescue.
The repetitive style will please young readers, and the clear, bright images are attractive and welcoming to the eye. At the back of the book are some small fact files about the creatures Duck meets on the beach, so the book combines a story with the opportunity for broader knowledge. Brockway has also translated the tale into Welsh.
And don’t worry – it’s a happy ending!
