Reviews
This is a charming sequel to last year’s A Nod from Nelson, and it follows in much the same style. Nelson the carthorse thinks his foolish friends have got lost in London, so it’s up to him, along with a motley crew of farm animals, to save the day!
Children between 7 and 9 will thoroughly enjoy this briskly told short novel, from the rugby obsessed ducklings, the All Quacks (see what they did there!) to Nelson’s finest hour pulling the Prince of Wales’ carriage. The chatty style is very welcoming, drawing us into the daftness. Particularly amusing is the sleepy ex-racehorse, Cardigan, who is completely up-to-date with the technological age!
As I read it, I was aware that the book has a distinctive Welsh accent, which also adds to the pleasure of the reading. Beautifully produced, this light-hearted tale from Simon Weston is sure to be popular.
