Brilliant. George has captured this beautiful part of France in a most enjoyable entertaining and cleverly humorous manner. Truly a bestselling writer in the making. There is still room for books about our nearest friends/adversaries, as long as they are written with George's uniqueness.
His writing is as entertaining as ever
I have a Brittany and Pays de la Loire blog site and, having read and enjoyed this book as much as I did, decided to feature sections of the book on the site inviting comments from visitors who had also visited the areas in the book. Would thoroughly recommend George East as a writer and specifically French Impressions : Brittany. George's books are more interesting than normal travel books, offering a real personal insight into the areas he visits.
A must for anyone who wishes to know the real Brittany.
Another fantastic book from George East. This time as a "guide" to Brittany, George brings out the charm and beauty of the region from a completely different point of view including looking at the expats that live here and the daily grind. Well worth a read and a good laugh.
Move over Bryson and Bennett, George East has published another book. The yardstick by which I judge humorous writing is through its guarantee to have you laughing out loud in your own company.
i was not impressed by what I had the patience to read. I also live in brittany (have for nearly 9 years) and found a lot of the content not at all true, very little based on true experience, more likely on heresay. NO I would not vote this book for a prize.
ANOTHER ENJOYABLE READ FROM THE GEORGE EAST " FRENCH CONNECTION "! I DO MISS HOWEVER THE CHARACTERS THAT HE WAS ABLE TO DEVELOP IN PREVIOUS BOOKS - SOMETHING HE COULD DO AS A RESIDENT IN ONE PLACE FOR A WHILE.HOWEVER I AWAIT EXPECTANTLY FOR THE NEXT TOME - SHORTLY - I HOPE. STEPHEN TERRY.
Another triumph from George. A book that really conjures up the spirit of a place with a fabulously funny way of drawing you in and making you laugh till you wet yourself (not loads, just a bit of a dribble).
Superb piece of "un-putdownable" reading. If you don't want to split your sides laughing, don't read this book!
As I was in hospital reading this book, I had to keep putting it down I laughed so much. I was afraid of spitting my stitches.
The love George has for France comes through in a big way. His description of the people and places is great and he visits places other writers have missed. All in all a great read.
A hugely enjoyable read depicting the true spirit of our Breton neighbours and their down to earth view of life. A must for any traveller wanting to fully appreciate the joys of Brittany, providing hints on where to go and how to connect with the characters likely to be encountered.
A wonderfully entertaining book written by a big man with a big heart. Readers of George's other books will click with 'Brittany' immediately. Forget travel guides; this is a guide to the enjoyment of life, and the love of disparate people, by a man with a unique style of writing. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did!
A really enjoyable read-funny and informative.
interesting!
