Synopsis

April 2005 Marie Browne, her husband Geoff and three children seemed to have it all.

“Rover has gone bust...”  Just four little words, but to them, whose entire and rather nice lifestyle was funded by the big car manufacturer, it was an absolute death knell.  Their middle-class lifestyle disappeared overnight.  They decided to follow their dreams and buy a narrow boat. Happy Go Lucky as they called their new home was a “stinking old hotel boat.”
But it wasn’t plain sailing for the family.  “Narrow Margins originally started life as a diary. Follow their adventures and learn that it’s so easy to focus on the bad and never see the good. If there’s a massive change in your life see it as an opportunity. They did and it changed their life for the better.

wonderful - made me laugh out loud on a wet and windy day.
My only complaint about this book is that it now makes me desperately want to make some massive change in my life too - a wonderful and inspiring tale! I actually know the author, so it was extra fun for me since the whole book sounded in my head with her and Geoff's voices - hilarious!
Anyone who has had anything to do with boats will recognise many of the situations in this book - but not many people can tell a tale as amusingly as Marie Browne. I highly recommend 'Narrow Margins'!
