The Burrymen War
Synopsis
The ancient Burryman ceremony in South Queensferry was suspended by the authorities after the gruesome death of a participant in the 1990 ceremony. This is the story of the events surrounding that death. It is a story exposing the violence and bigotry that fester in the underbelly of small-town Scotland.

“No knowing the history of the ‘real’ Burryman, I can't speculate on where fact and fiction diverge, but I can declare this is a totally convincing fiction.†– Cally Phillips, Indie eBook Review
“I highly recommend this tragi-comic operetta set in the shadow of the Ferry bridges as essential reading for the New Scotland. And for the Old One, too.†– John McGroarty, McVoices

Reader Comments
The Burrymen War is a beautifully crafted working class tale. Upon deciding to read the book I had no expectation of its contents. Having read the synopsis I felt that this may be a 'local book for local people'. How terribly wrong I was'.
The Burrymen War is exciting tail of drunken friends and a crazy scheme, it is a story and a book not to be overlooked.
Mr Gisby really captures the atmosphere of the place and time in this book. His narrative is wonderful and the dialect of the characters sets the scene and is still comprehendible to non-Scots!
Roll over Irvine Welsh! THE BURRYMEN WAR is like TRAINSPOTTING - but with heart.
